THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State government will seek Centre’s permission for relaxing quarantine guidelines for expats. The government will communicate to the Centre that keeping pregnant women, elderly people, patients and children in government quarantine centres for 14 days would be a challenge and hence they should be allowed to go home and be under observation there.
On the other hand, the government has also decided to identify persons arriving in Kerala from Red Zones in other states and shift them to quarantine centres.
According to reports, Air India Express will operate 13 services. 2000 staff including 60 pilots will take part in the evacuation operation.
Food and water for the travellers will be taken from India. The staff for the first schedule of the operation have completed their Covid test. The mission named ‘Vande Bharat’ will begin on Thursday.
The first flight from Abu Dhabi will reach Nedumbassery at 9:40 pm on Thursday.
