THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has brought changes to the cuts to be effected on the honorarium paid to local self-governing body representatives.
Earlier, it was decided to cut 30 per cent of the honorarium for one year.
But now, the decision is to cut one month’s honorarium in four instalments from the month of April.
When compared to MPs and MLA, local body self-governing representatives receive only a ‘little’ money as honorarium.
The earlier move to deduct a ‘big’ amount from this was vehemently opposed by the beneficiaries. It was after this that the cabinet meeting reviewed the decision.
