KOLLAM: A woman who was sleeping at home died after bitten by a snake. She has been identified as Uthara (25), wife of Sooraj of Anchal Eram Vellasseri. The snake bit her when she was sleeping in her house. She was rushed to the hospital when she failed to respond. On examination, it was found that she was bitten by a snake and by the time she was declared dead.

After reaching home, they searched the house and found a cobra. It was later beaten to death. A snake bit Uthara when she was at her husband’s house in Adoor last month. She was bitten by the snake a second time when she was undergoing treatment for the first snake bite at her house in Kollam. It is asserted that the snake may have entered through the window which was lying open.

She was the daughter of Viswanathan and Vijayalekshmi. Dhruv is her only son.
