THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Liquor can be sold online in Kerala, the police DGP informed the state government earlier on Friday. It is learned that the DGP has handed over a letter to the government regarding this. The DGP has also informed that police will make necessary arrangements to avoid crowding and ensuring safety in front of the beverage outlets.

Earlier, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had sought a report from the police regarding the reopening of beverage outlets. The police were directed to assess the number of persons that must be allowed to stand in the queues before the outlets. They were also asked about the means by which social distancing can be implemented before the outlets. The report was sought in the wake of various news reports which claimed that several other states witnessed huge rush in front of liquor shops once the shops were reopened. It is learnt that the decision regarding the reopening of beverage outlets will be taken on the basis of the report from the police.
