KOCHI: The state government Sunday informed the Kerala High Court that passes will be issued to those who have come so far at the Kerala border. The government also told the court that in future those coming without passes will not be permitted to enter Kerala. The government told the court that there was an extraordinary situation at the state border and accommodation cannot be provided to those reaching the border. 59,000 passes have been issued so far, the government told the court.
A special sitting was held today in the case taken up by the court.
Many reached the borders yesterday without passes. They were permitted to enter the state after a long uncertainty. The chief minister had clarified that those reaching without passes will not be allowed to enter the state. The chief minister said from where people are coming, where they go and their health details are all crucial. The court's immediate intervention was in the wake of Saturday's incidents in check posts including Walayar and Thalapadi. The division bench considered the issues related to the lockdown. A divison bench led by Justices P Chali and M R Anitha considered the case.
