PALAKKAD: A baby died in Attappadi again. A seven-day-old baby died at the Vellakulam Ooru in Attappadi. The baby boy was born to Chitra-Sivan couple. The baby had health issues while birth and died at Perinthalmanna EMS Hospital while undergoing treatment.

This is the fifth baby dying in Attappadi this year. This death is at a time when the state has brought its infant mortality rate (IMR), down from 10 to the single digit of 7.

The state achieved this while the national average for IMR was 32 per 1,000 births.
