THIRUVALLA: It appears that Divya’s case will also have the same fate as that of Abhaya’s. Even after investigating Sister Abhaya’s case for a quarter of a century by the local police and CBI, they could take it to a logical conclusion.
Abhaya’s body was found in the well of St Pious X Convent in Kottayam. Student nun Divya P John (21)’s body was found in the well on the premises of Basilian Sisters convent at Paliakkara.
Though the preliminary report said that she died from drowning, a detailed report is awaited.
It has to be found how Divya fell into the well. The iron cover of the well had been removed. Moreover, as there was motor fitted to the well, there was no need for her to draw water from the well. There was also sufficient water in the tank.
The police are not ruling out possibility of suicide. The case is being investigated by a team under Thiruvalla DySP Umesh Kumar.
Divya P John, daughter of John Philipose and Kochumol of Thadathemalayil house at Chunkappara near Mallappally, was a fifth-year novice undergoing training to become a nun at Baselian Convent of the Malankara Syrian Catholic Church.
Divya’s body was found at around 12 pm on Thursday. The dog squad and forensic experts had examined the place. DySP Umesh Kumar said he would be able to speak more about the case only after receiving a detailed post-mortem report.
The convent authorities said that they didn’t know whether some issues were haunting her. Her family members also said that Divya didn’t have any problem in her life.
The convent comes under Malankara Catholics diocese.
