THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Seven fresh cases of COVID-19 has been confirmed in the state on Monday, a press release from health minister KK Shailaja said. Of the new cases, four are from Kasaragod, and one each from Palakkad, Malappuram, and Wayanad. In Kasaragod, the confirmed cases are returnees from Maharashtra. In Palakkad, the COVID-19 patient is a returnee from Chennai, and in Malappuram, the patient returned from Kuwait recently.

The patient in Wayanad developed the disease through contact. There no new recoveries on Monday. As of today, 489 persons were cured of coronavirus in the state. 27 patients are under treatment at various hospitals in the state.

Till Sunday, a total of 1307 persons returned from abroad. Out of this, 650 persons are under observation in homes, 641 in the COVID care centre, and 16 in hospitals. There are 229 pregnant women among this.

Over various districts, 27,986 persons are under observation including 441 in hospitals. 157 persons were admitted to hospitals on Monday. Samples of 37858 persons (including augmented samples) were sent for testing so far. Of the available results, 37098 tests have returned negative for the virus.

In addition to this, 3842 samples were collected as part of sentinel surveillance and 3791 samples returned with negative results.

A new hotspot was declared in the state-Nenmeni in Wayanad. With this, there are 34 hotspots in Kerala.
