MALAPPURAM: A 27-year-old pregnant woman and her 3-year-old son have tested positive for coronavirus in Malappuram. Both the mother and the child had returned from Kuwait on May 9. The two are currently undergoing treatment at the Manjeri Medical College Hospital.

Both the woman and her son, natives of BP Angadi in Tirur, were staying in Abbasiya in Kuwait with her husband and father-in-law. Her father-in-law had tested positive for the virus last week and is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kuwait. However, the woman and child returned to Kerala in Air India's repatriation flight. Since the two were not experiencing any symptoms, they were allowed to go home by the authorities.

Upon finding that their COVID-19 tests have returned positive, the mother and child were immediately moved to the Medical College Hospital. Meanwhile, all those who have come in contact with the two have been kept under observation.
