NEW DELHI: The death toll due to COVID-19 rose to 2,293. As per the reports of the union health ministry, 70,756 are infected of the virus. 87 deaths and 3,604 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours. 46,008 people are undergoing treatment after having contracting the disease. 22,454 have been recovered so far.
Maharashtra has reported the highest number of deaths in the country. Virus has been confirmed on 1026 people in the last 24 hours. As per the tally of Maharashtra health department, 24,427 persons have contracted the disease. A total of 921 deaths were reported. Of that 53 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. 5125 people have been cured of the disease.
Of the confirmed cases, almost 15,000 patients are from Mumbai. Half of the deaths were reported from Mumbai. 716 new cases have been reported in Tamil Nadu. Of that 510 are from Chennai. The rise in the death toll is the current challenge for Tamil Nadu.
