KALPETTA: A case has been taken against some people for organising an Iftar party violating restrictions at Nenmeni panchayat in Wayanad declared as hotspot. The police have taken case against 20 people for organising an Iftar party at Ammaipalam of Nenmeni panchayat the other day.
Strict restrictions were imposed in the district soon after six were confirmed of COVID-19. It was in between this the Iftar party was organised. A case was taken against them under the Prevention of Infectious Diseases Act.
The authorities have directed to be on high alert as the disease transmitted via contact to the patients under treatment now. Elderly people, pregnant women and children have been advised not to go out unnecessarily. Authorities also requested children not to gather outside and play and asked them to avoid it for the time being. If they are seen playing outside, a case will be taken against their parents, the authorities informed.
