THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the wake of the spread of COVID-19 in the state, 27 major hospitals including medical colleges will be converted to complete COVID hospitals. Doctors of private sector have been given training for it.
The treatment has been planned as Plan A, Plan B and Plan C. Medical colleges and main hospitals of the district will be converted to COVID Hospitals if there is a rise in number of patients. 125 private hospitals have agreed to it.
11,084 isolation beds and 1679 ICU beds will be obtained through it. The service of hospitals of the private sector will be used in the next phase.
Meantime, the availability of test kits remains a major challenge. As the number of returnees in the state have increased, number of examinations is also on the rise. The government has mentioned that there is a stock of kits for two months. Though there was a deal for rapid test kits with HLL a couple of weeks ago, it got stuck due to technical issues.
