THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: 14 fresh cases of COVID-19 has been confirmed in the state on Sunday, health minister KK Shailaja said. Of the new cases, four are from Malappuram, two each in Palakkad, Kozhikode, Kannur, and one each in Kollam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, and Kasaragod.

Two of the confirmed cases are returnees from abroad(one from Kuwait and the other from UAE), and 10 are returnees from other states. The new case in Ernakulam is a UP native who came from the Maldives. In Kollam, the virus was confirmed in a health worker. No patient tested negative for the virus on Sunday.


A total of 497 persons recovered from COVID-19 in the state. As of today, 101 patients are under treatment at various hospitals in the state.

3467 people came to the state through airports, 1033 did so from seaports, 1021 through rail and 55,086 via checkposts, making it a total of 60,612 persons.

Over various districts, 62,529 persons are under observation including 674 in hospitals. 159 persons were admitted to hospitals on Sunday. Samples of 45,027 persons (including augmented samples) were sent for testing so far. Of the available test results, 43,200 are negative for the virus.

In addition to this, 5009 samples were collected as part of sentinel surveillance and 4764 samples returned with negative results.

Panamaram in Wayanad was declared as a hotspot on Sunday. As of today, there are 23 hotspots in Kerala.
