KASARGOD: In a dramatic event, the lockdown restrictions posed a threat to the marriage plans of a young couple after the bride was denied pass to enter Kerala at the Karnataka border. Following this, the bride was unable to reach the venue before the auspicious time. Fortunately, a pass was arranged later in the day and the two eventually got married six hours later.
The bride, Vimala from Kankanady in Mangaluru, had reached the Kerala-Karanataka border by 7 am on Monday. The groom, Pushparaj, was waiting at the other side of the border to receive her. However, upon reaching the border, Vimala was denied permission to pass the border by the Kerala authorities after they claimed that she did not produce proper documents. Following this, efforts were made to arrange the pass to enter Kerala. After several hours, the relatives were finally able to arrange the pass after contacting Kasargod District Collector, NA Nellikkunnu MLA and ADM Devidas. By then time was half past 4.
However, the couple decided to go ahead with the wedding plan and got married in Pushparaj's house at Mullery in Kasargod by 6 pm. Meanwhile, the bride has been asked to remain in quarantine since she had come from another state. It is learnt that she was initially denied permission to enter the state as she had applied for a medical emergency pass without revealing the details of marriage.
