THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The SLLC and higher secondary examinations announced to start on May 26 have been postponed again. The exams are likely to conduct in the first week of June. The decision was taken at the cabinet meet convened here Wednesday.
It has been hinted that the intervention of the centre led to the postponement of the exams. The centre has informed states that a guideline will be issued in the first week of June in connection with the conduct of exams. Reports said that it is in this backdrop the decision to postpone the exam was taken.
The government had earlier decided to conduct the exams on May 26. The new dates will be decided after centre issues the guideline.
The state government decided to conduct the postponed exams on May 26 following relaxations announced by the centre. The government decided to conduct the exams as there is no reported case of transmission of the virus in the state except for those coming from outside Kerala.
The opposition had strongly protested the conduct of the exams. However, the chief minister had clarified at the press conference that there is no need for concern and that the exams will be conducted on May 26 itself. However, the decision was changed at the cabinet meet convened here today.
