ALAPPUZHA: The district court here on Thursday dismissed the bail plea of former SNDP Mavelikkara Union office bearers Subash Vasu, B Suresh Babu, and Shaji M Panicker in connection with a financial fraud case registered by Mavelikkara police.

Subash Vasu is the primary accused in the case. The state police chief had ordered a crime branch investigation in the case.

Documents including minutes books, cheques and others seized in a raid by Alappuzha CB SP Prakash Kani was submitted at the court. Raids were also conducted at the residences of the union staffs Revamma and Sasikala. The raid was conducted on receiving a complaint from the union administrator and the current convenor Adv Sinil Mundappally.

The accused approached the high court seeking the cancellation of the case probed by Alappuzha CB. Subsequently, the court directed to issue a notice before arresting Subash Vasu and Suresh Babu but allowed to arrest other accused in the case.

Though the Alappuzha SP issued a summons notice to the accused, they didn't report but instead went to the court for anticipatory bail.
