THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sooraj’s confession turned crucial in Uthra murder case. There were constant fights for more money and property from Uthra’s house. A fight broke out in January at Adoor. Following that, her father and his nephew went to Sooraj’s house in Adoor. Her father said that if this continues he will take her home and file a divorce case. In his confession, he told police that this insisted him for a murder.
The two got married on March 26 in 2018. Sooraj had mentally and physically tortured her. Uthra’s parents knew about it. Uthra’s father Vijayasenan along with his nephew Shyam reached Sooraj’s house to ask about it.
Sooraj realized that he will have to pay back the dowry amount if a divorce case is filed. 96 sovereigns of gold, Rs 5 lakh, car, a pickup auto of Rs 3.15 lakh will have to be returned. Uthra’s mother had earlier said that the amount of Rs 65 lakh she gets after retirement would be given to her two children-Uthra and her brother. Sooraj calculated that this too would go away from his hands.
With this in mind, Sooraj and his family were on a path of reconciliation. He later planned to kill her. He thought that if she dies, the property will be either in his baby’s name or in his name. So, he decided to finish her off.
