THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Met Department has forwarned of heavy rains from May 21 to May 31. A yellow alert has been sounded in several districts.

District where a yellow alert was sounded:
On May 27: Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Malappuram

May 28: Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram and Wayanad

May 29: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur

May 30: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram

There are possibilities of rain between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm in some places. The public and the officials are advised to stay alert. With possibility of heavy rain and wind, there is a danger of landslides as well. Those residing near rivers and those in coastal areas should stay alert, the Met department warned.
