THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Places of worship cannot be allowed to open soon as it will be difficult to control devotees, the state government said on Wednesday.

The CM during his press conference said this will hinder the efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus. In the all-party meeting, the demand to reopen places of worship was raised. The government subsequently took a stand to consider this once the situation gets better. The central government also have the same stand, the CM said.

Meanwhile, Sundays in the state should be observed as a day for cleaning, the CM said. Complete lockdown is followed on Sundays. In the all-party meeting, there was a suggestion to observe this day as a sanitation day. Besides COVID, there is a threat of monsoon diseases. So cleanliness is a serious matter and this suggestion was accepted.

The CM urged the public to clean their houses and premises on Sunday to curb the spread of diseases.
