THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday informed that around 2.25 lakh people bought liquor through the BevQ app on the first day. The sale of liquor has been resumed by introducing virtual queue. Despite some technical issues on the first day, the Excise department is very much prepared to go ahead with the sale of liquor, the CM said. He also added that liquor was sold by following the COVID guidelines issued by the Central Minister.

Meanwhile, the CM added strict action will be taken against those who developed and uploaded a fake BevQ app on play store. "They will be charged with a non-bailable offence. The High-tech cell at the Police Headquarters will investigate the matter," he added. He also added that police have registered cases against 6 persons for violating quarantine norms on Thursday.
