THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state tourism department has been told by the centre that two projects including the Sivagiri tourism circuit have been abandoned. The Rs 69.47 crore project was earlier included in the central tourism department's 'Swadeshi Darshan' scheme.

The development project was planned to bring together temples of Sree Narayana Guru. The foundation stone of the project was laid by former union minister Alphonse Kannanthanam and was announced to be completed through ITDC.

Along with this project, another project worth Rs 85.23 that includes main places of worship from Hindu, Christian and Muslim faiths was also abandoned. This project was inaugurated by the former Mizoram governor Kummanam Rajasekharan.

Meanwhile, Dharma Sangham Trust general secretary Swami Sandrananda said no information regarding the abandoning of circuit project was received.

CM Pinarayi Vijayan in his press meet told that he doesn't know whether the project was abandoned and it needs to be checked.

Union minister V Muraleedharan has requested to review the decision to abandon the project during his meeting with union tourism minister Prahlad Singh Patel. The minister told an apt decision will be taken after a discussion with officers, V Muraleedharan said.
