KOLLAM: Kerala Women's Commission has urged the police to take action against the parents and sister of Sooraj, the husband of Kollam native Uthra who died of snake bite.

Women’s Commission member Dr Shaheeda Kamal gave a letter to Rural district police chief, seeking action against them under Dowry Prohibition Act and Domestic Violence Act.

“The primary report in this connection should be submitted within seven days. The Commission should also be keep posted on the progress of the investigation in each stage.

The charge sheet against Sooraj should be filed within 90 days. There should be action from Pathanamthitta district police chief to ensure that the accused get maximum punishment,” the Commission demanded.
