KOTTAYAM: Blade gangs are suspected to be behind the attack of the elderly couple in Kottayam. It is the style of blade mafias to break into a house in daylight and forcibly take away the vehicle. Police have obtained hints that Sali had some connections with blade mafias.

Sheeba (60) was murdered while her husband Sali (65) sustained grievous injuries in the attack Monday evening.

In preliminary inquiry, the police suspect that the gang were aiming to eliminate Sali and Sheeba. If robbery was the only motive, they wouldn’t have trespassed into the house in daylight. Not only that, it is also suspected that someone closed to them is behind the murder. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have opened the door for them. Sheeba, Sali’s wife had gone inside to make coffee for them. The glass containing the coffee had fallen from her hand and was found lying broken. The police have taken that into custody.

Police suspect that as Sheeba and Sali knew the offenders, the gang may have tried to murder the couple. The gang also tried to electrocute them and an LPG gas cylinder also was kept open.

Police have found that the car stolen from the couple’s house have crossed Vaikkom. Police have passed message to all stations to inform if the car has entered any pumps to fill fuel.
