THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: One more person died of Covid 19 in Kerala. This time it was a church priest from Thiruvananthapuram.
Nalanchira native Fr Varghese (77) died Tuesday morning. The priest was admitted in Thiruvananthapuram Medical college hospital on April 20 after he sustained a severe head injury in a bike accident.
While undergoing treatment, he developed some breathing trouble. Soon he was subjected to a surgery at the neuro surgery department.
Two weeks ago he was shifted to a Proorkkada hospital after the injury in his head healed. Before that Fr Varghese had also taken treatment from Medical College ENT wing as he had injured his eyes in the accident.
Two days ago, he showed symptoms of pneumonia and he was admitted to Covid ward in the Medical College. His fluid sample was sent for lab test but he died on Tuesday morning. The test result that came out at 12 pm confirmed that he was Covid positive.
With this death the total number of Covid deaths in the State became 11. Meanwhile, it is not known how Fr Varghese contracted the disease. It is not clear whether he contracted the disease at the time of surgery or after that.
