MALAPPURAM: A report has been handed over to the education minister on the death of Devika, who committed suicide after she was unable to attend the online classes. The report of Malappuram DDE has mentioned that neither the officials of the education department nor the teachers of the school have any role in her death. There are no lapses from their side. The report has pointed that her class teacher Anish had asked her whether she has access to e-learning.
The report of the DDE asserted that the school had informed her that arrangements will be made in school for e-learning by June 5.
14-year-old Devika of Mangeri near Valanchery set herself ablaze and her body was recovered from near her house. Her parents had alleged that she committed suicide due to the unavailability of facilities to attend the online classes. She was mentally exhausted as she neither had a smartphone or money to repair the faulty television.
