THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The trip to Pampa was not a pleasure trip and the sand is moved to prevent flooding, said Chief Secretary Biswas Mehta. He harshly criticised the allegation of opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala that there is corruption in the secret trip to Pampa. I too accompanied Tom Jose and the DGP, he said. The trip was not a pleasure one and the sand is moved to prevent flooding, he said this while talking to a private channel.

“We went there as the decision taken two years ago has not been implemented. He also censured the Collector and the SP. It is not right to make a controversy in the name of Tom Jose. We will proceed with the sand removal process,” he said.

Chennithala had the other day termed the secret trip to Pampa as mysterious. He said the trip was a secret one to have a look into the tonnes of sand lying on the banks of river Pamba at the foothills of the famed Sabarimala temple.
