THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state has confirmed 82 fresh COVID-19 positive cases on Wednesday, CM Pinarayi Vijayan told the media here. Among the new cases, 53 are returnees from abroad while 19 returned from other states. Five health care workers also tested positive for the virus while five others developed the disease through contact.
14 of the new cases are in Thiruvananthapuram, 11 in Malappuram, nine in Idukki, eight in Kottayam, seven in Alappuzha, seven in Kozhikode, five in Palakkad, five in Kollam, five in Ernakulam, four in Thrissur, three in Kasaragod, two in Kannur and one in Pathanamthitta. One patient's coronavirus source is unclear.
There are 128 hotspots in the state. 1440 patients are under treatment at various hospitals in the state, the CM added.
