ANCHAL: Wife dies after getting thrashed by drunk husband, following which the husband committed suicide out of remorse. The deceased has been identified as Sunil (34) and his wife Sujini (24).

According to the police, Sunil and Sujini had a fight on Tuesday night. Sunil was drunk. He hit his wife and she fell down. Sunil went to sleep ignoring this.

Sunil woke up the following morning at 6 am. He went out to buy milk and found his wife laying there on the floor unmoved. He tried to wake her up but realized she was dead. It is believed that Sunil hung himself out of grief.

In the morning, Sunil phoned his mother living in Ezhamkulam and asked her to come home as he is not well. When the mother called him back, the phone was switched off. Subsequently, she contacted Sujini's father Shaji. When Shaji reached the house, the door was locked. After breaking into the house, the dead bodies of Sunil and his wife were found. The couple's three-year-old daughter was asleep.

After preparing inquest, the bodies were sent for postmortem. Forensic experts also reached the spot to collect evidence. There were marks of a blow on Sujini's neck. The marks matched with Sunil's fingerprint.
