IDUKKI: CPM leaders, who had issued death threat to Vandiperiyar police officers, have got anticipatory bail.
Thodupuzha district court has granted bail to CPM Peerumedu area secretary Vijayanad and district secretariat member R Tilakan.
The allegation of the Congress and BJP is that the police delayed the arrest and gave opportunity for anticipatory bail. The leaders had gone underground, fearing arrest. Now they can get bail if they appear in Vandiperiyar station.
The incident related to the case happened last Wednesday. The leaders charged into Vandiperiyar station and demanded that the vehicle of a DYFI ledser which was seized during checking be released.
They created dramatic scenes inside the station and threatened to enter the houses of ASI and four policemen and hack them.
Meanwhile, there is an allegation that the CPM leader’s arrest was prevented due to the intervention of certain top police officers.
