THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday informed that 111 more persons have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the state. This is the first time the number of COVID cases have crossed the 100 mark on a single day. Of the newly infected persons, 50 had returned from abroad and 48 had returned from other states, the CM added.

Palakkad accounted for 40 cases, Malappuram 18, Pathanamthitta 11, Ernakulam 10, Thrissur 8, Thiruvananthapuram and Alappuzha 5 each, Kozhikode 4, Wayanad and Idukki 3 each, Kollam 2 while Kottayam and Kasargod reported 1 case each. The CM also added that three health workers also tested positive for the virus on Friday. Meanwhile, 22 infected patients tested negative for the virus on Friday.
So far, Kerala has reported 1697 cases out of which 973 are undergoing treatment. While 1,75,561 are in home/institutional quarantine, 1,545 are in hospitals.
