THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Met department has forecast rain with thunderstorms and winds with speeds up to 40 km/hr in the next three days in some parts of Alappuzha, Kottayam and Thiruvananthapuram.

A yellow alert has been sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Idukki on Friday and Saturday. In isolated places, there will be rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.

As there is a possibility for strong winds and rain, those residing in places with the possibility for landslide and those near rivers should maintain high alert. Those residing near coasts should also be wary of rough seas.
