rape

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The medical test report of the woman who was gang-raped at Kandinamkulam in a “planned operation” by her own husband and his friends has come out. The report substantiates that she was subjected to gang-rape.

The government has shifted her and her child, who is the only witness in the case, to Abhaya centre. On Friday, the police had taken the woman to the magistrate and her secret statements were recorded.

Police had on Friday arrested her husband and his five friends namely Mansoor (45), Akbar Shah (23), Arshad (33), Rajan (50) and Manoj, all of whom are Channankara Kandinamkulam natives. They will be produced in the court on Saturday. The police is on the lookout for one more accused namely Noufal, who has been absconding since the incident.

In the case, the total number of accused including her husband is seven. Police have also invoked POCSO act as the woman was assaulted in front of her child and the accused had beaten the boy when he tried to resist them from attacking his mother.

The incident happened on Thursday. According to her statement, her husband had taken her and the child out under the pretext of going to his friend Rajan’s house at Vettuthura near Kadinamkulam and to the nearby beach. At Rajan’s house, Monsoor, Akbar Shah, Arshad and Noufal were there and all were enjoying a boozing session.

The husband also made the woman drink alcohol and created an opportunity for the friends to rape her. When she tried to escape from the house, the accused dragged her and the child into an auto, and took them to a deserted wood, where she was gang-raped, beaten and her thighs were burnt with cigar butts.

The woman who lost conscious in between later managed to escape and reach the road. In the road a biker helped her board a car that came that way and reach home.
