THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that heavy rains are likely to be active in the state. They predicted strong showers in central and southern Kerala. Yellow alert will continue in seven districts. Yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki districts.
The fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea. The State Disaster Response Authority has urged coastal residents to be vigilant. The Meteorological Department forecast heavy rainfall in isolated areas with a maximum rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
