KOTTAYAM: The state women’s commission took a suo moto case in connection with the death of the student in Meenachil River. They intervened after her father alleged that the college authorities mentally harassed her in the name of copying. M G University has sought an explanation from BMV Holy Cross College.
Anju Shaji, a B.Com student of St Antony’s Parallel College in Kanjirapally was found dead in Meenachil River on Monday Anju was allotted exam centre at BVM Holy Cross College in Cherpunkal. It was alleged that the college authorities scolded her for copying on the last semester exam on Saturday. She was not allowed to write the whole exam.
She was missing soon after that. Fire force and divers found her body in a search conducted after her bag and umbrella was found at Cherpunkal Bridge.
The body was found in the Meenachil River, three kilometres away from BVM Holy Cross College. Various political parties came forward with protests on her death. BJP activists staged a march to BVM College seeking the arrest of those responsible.
