THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Six more regions have been identified as hotspots in Kerala. Shoranur in Palakkad district, Moorkanad, Kuruva, Kalpakanchery, Edappal and Vattamkulam in Malappuram district are the new hotspots in the state. At present, there are 150 hotspots in the state.
Kerala has reported 91 COVID-19 cases on Monday. Thrissur district accounted for 27 cases, Malappuram 14, Kozhikode 13, Kasargod 8, Kollam and Alappuzha 5 each, Kannur 4, Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Ernakulam 3 each, Wayanad 2, while Palakkad reported 1 case. Of the 91 persons who tested on Monday, 73 had returned from abroad and 15 had returned from other states. One person in Thrissur contracted the disease through contact.
The state also reported a COVID death on Monday after Kombara native Dinny Chacko died of the infection in Thrissur. Dinny, who had recently returned from the Maldives, was under treatment for the disease at the Thrissur Medical College. So far, 16 people have died of COVID-19 in the state.
