THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Jayamohan Thampi, a former Ranji player and member of Kerala cricket team, was found dead in his house. He was 64. The police said the dead body was three days old and in a decomposed state. The body was found in house number H 18 at Manacaud Parambil Nagar. The tenants who stay nearby noticed a foul odor coming out of the house since the morning, and on checking the place found Jayamohan Thampi dead.
Thampi's elder son Ashwin lived with him. Though Ashwin was inside the house, he said he didn't notice the odor or the death of his father. The Fort police said he was drunk and unconscious and is currently under observation. It was the neighbours who woke him up and told about the death. There is a door to get inside his room without going through the hall. The body was handed over to the relatives after postmortem. A case has been registered for unnatural death. A natives of Alappuzha, Jayamohan Thampi played as wicket-keeper batsman for Kerala in the Ranji Trophy during 1982-84. He retired as a deputy general managed at SBT. Wife: Anitha (late). His other son Ashiq is an employee of the SBI. In-laws: Megha, Juhi.
