KOCHI: The body of Nithin Chandran, who died in Dubai, reached Nedumbassery Airport Wednesday morning. The body will be taken to his native place Perambra in Kozhikode in a short while. Nithin was found dead at his accommodation in Dubai two days back. He died of cardiac arrest in his sleep.

The body reached this morning at 5.45 am in Air Arabia flight. His relatives and friends were there to receive the body. After completing the procedures, the body will be taken to his native place.

Most probably the body will be taken to the hospital in Kozhikode where Athira has been admitted for delivery. She delivered a baby girl yesterday through C-section. She is still not aware that Nithin is dead. The body will be cremated this evening.

Nithin Chandran had supported his pregnant wife to file a plea in the apex court for early repatriation from the UAE during lockdown. Nithin had worked a lot for the community, especially arranging blood donation camps and volunteering during COVID situation. He was under treatment for high blood pressure and a heart condition and is suspected to have died of a heart attack while asleep.

Nithin and Athira had approached the Supreme Court for airline services to bring pregnant women from the Gulf. Athira had returned to her native place in the first flight of Vande Bharat Mission. Nithin stayed back in Dubai and was active in charitable services and blood donation camps.
