KANNUR: A seven-year-old met a tragic death in the bedroom as his neck accidentally got strangled in a cradle. Rijwal, son of Rajeesh and Saranya, died in his uncle's house in Kadangode. He came here with mother Saranya to spend the vacation. It is said that the mother scolded the child for picking a fight with her brother's kids. Rijwal locked himself up in his room after this.

The child was not responding after calling him, and the door had to be broken to get in. The child was found dead as the saree-cradle was seen tightened around his neck, the police said.

The body was shifted Kannur district hospital mortuary.

Chakkarakkal police registered a case for unnatural death and started the investigation. Rijwal has a two year old brother.
