KOTTAYAM: M G University vice-chancellor Sabu Thomas said there is a lapse on the side of BVM College in the suicide of a student following allegation of copying. It is a lapse on the side of the college making her sit for more time after found copying, he said.

The CCTV footages of the exam hall must be kept secret. It should have been first handed over to the university. It shouldn’t have been handed over to the public. The hall ticket spoiled should have been given to the university. The college did not take the issue seriously. BVM College vice principal had given a report between 7 and 7.30 pm on the day the incident happened. The report was given along with the photocopy of the hall ticket.

Exam centres need to be more student-friendly. If this happens in the future, parents should be informed. There is no need of a hall ticket. We can do it through electronic media. The syndicate will discuss all these things, the VC said.
