THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Almost 407 chartered flights are awaiting permission from various countries to return to the state. The state government said almost 300 chartered flights will reach the state very soon. People between 50,000 to one lakh are expected to return.
The respective embassies will hand over the passengers list to the government only three days before the flight comes.
Of those who have returned to the state so far, 64 per cent are women, elderly and children. The most affected were those from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar. Of that, 665 are under isolation. 3692 pregnant women were among them. Of that, 34 came by ship. Of those who arrived in the state, 1480 were aged people and 4507 were children below the age of 10. Meantime, 64% of those returning to the state are from Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur districts. With this, the government has decided to intensify surveillance in these districts. The government has instructed the local bodies and the police to set up isolation centres for those in need on local authority basis and to ensure that there is no violation of surveillance when others are in their homes.
