THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala high court has dismissed the petition seeking a CBI inquiry into the incident of bullets and rifles missing from police headquarters. The petition had been filed by Changanassery native Ramachandra Kaimal.

The petitioner’s plea was that the current police probe will not bring out the truth and the CBI inquiry will be necessary.

The government told the court that the crime branch investigation was progressing in the case and CBI probe was not necessary.

Earlier, the petition filed by public activist George Vattakulam had been dismissed. The CAG’s finding that rifles and bullets had gone missing from SAP camp had put the government in a spot.

But, the Crime Brach brought back the rifles that were taken to various other camps and a public examination was conducted to confirm that the rifles were not lost.

The CAG’s finding was that more than 12,000 bullets had gone missing. The petition was dismissed by a division bench comprising Chief Justice M Manikumar and Justice Shaji P Chali.
