ARIMBUR: Alakananda, an 11-year-old girl suffering from heart valve disease passed away on Friday without seeing her mother for the last time. She had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Ernakulam.

Her mother Sunitha is currently stranded in Kuwait due to the coronavirus induced lockdown. Sunitha had moved to Kuwait to raise money for her daughter's treatment. Alakananda, daughter of autorickshaw driver Binosh and Sunitha, had been suffering from the heart disease since her birth.

As her treatment turned costlier, a committee was formed under the leadership of Arimbur Panchayat President to provide financial aid to the family. However, Alakananda set off for her final journey without waiting for any such aid.
