THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is no community transmission of COVID-19 in the state, said Health Minister K K Shailaja. This is due to the systematic work done so far. However, there are chances for community transmission in the state. The state is on the verge of a community transmission. If you examine the figures till yesterday, there are no major problems in Kerala. Transmission of the disease through contact is less in the state, the minister said.
The state should be extra cautious. The service of the police is praiseworthy. The state government functioned touching all sectors. Due to our systematic work only 10 per cent contracted the virus through contact, but the 10 percent risk cannot be ruled out, she said.
It is a cause of concern if the contact goes above 30 percent. However, there has never been such a situation in Kerala. The chief minister will say about the COVID tests of the expatriates coming in chartered flights after the talks with the Prime Minster on Tuesday. This is for the safety of the expatriates. The action would be taken only after considering the central directive, she said.
The Keralites both in and outside the state are seen alike. Disinfection and processing of PPE kits are done rightly in Kerala. Whether there is a lapse on the suicides in Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital will be examined. Health workers work sincerely 24 hours a day. The entire medical college should not be blamed. Almost 10,000 patients are daily coming to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College from many places including Kanyakumari district.
