THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has revised Covid treatment guidelines in the wake of two Covid patients under treatment in Thiruvananthapuram Medical College committing suicide.
According to the new guidelines, the patients should be given moral support and the guidance of psychologists to improve the mental health of patients.
Telemedicine service and free food should be provided, according to the guidelines of the health department.
Asymptomatic persons and those with mild symptoms need only to be admitted in primary examination centres in the initial phase. Auditorium, halls and Indore Stadiums can be used as primary examination centres. In a centre, maximum 50 persons can be admitted.
If the infection is severe, they can be shifted to speciality hospital for expert treatment. Four doctors will be on duty for 14 days in a centre.
It was decided to enhance the facilities in primary examination centres as the number of Corona cases is increasing in the State.
The new guidelines have been issued under the presumption that the existing number of Covid speciality hospitals will not suffice if the number of Covid patients starts increasing.
