PATHANAMTHITTA: Former national volleyball player and Kerala captain Danikutty David(60) passed away in Thiruvalla on Tuesday. He was undergoing treatment for liver ailments at the Believers Church Hospital in Thiruvalla.

He had represented Kerala in 11 National Championships and was the captain of the team that won the bronze medal in the National Championships held in Delhi in 1985-86. He had also made immense contribution to the game by finding young talents from Kerala. He had retired from Titanium on May 31.

Danikutty's funeral will take place at Bethlehem Mar Thoma Church, Mallasseri on Wednesday. He is survived by wife Aniyamma and children Dennis and Alice.
