THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Around two lakh visually challenged Malayalis are gearing up to experience the habit of daily news reading with the help of Kerala Kaumudi's new audio newspaper. This will be the country's first audio newspaper that has been specially designed to help the visually challenged. This special edition, which can be accessed through any smartphones, has been designed after considering the requirements and suggestions put forward by the visually challenged people.
It was with the help of Kerala Kaumudi that nearly thousands of visually challenged people in the state were able to access daily news for the first time. Now, more than 6000 members of the Kerala Federation of the Blind' are able to 'open their eyes' for the morning news through the special edition.
The readers will be able to select topics of their interests from around 200 daily news which will be uploaded and arranged in order. By clicking the play button provided on the side of each news article, they will be able to hear the complete audio version of the article. They can also easily share these articles with their friends through Whatsapp and other social media platforms. The audio newspaper intends to provide the natural feel of news reading through simple options and effortless navigation facilities
