MUMBAI: The police recorded the statement of Rhea Chakraborty, rumoured girlfriend of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Though they were rumoured to be dating, none of the two had officially announced it. However, Rhea told police that they were dating.

She was questioned for nearly nine hours at the Bandra police station. She told police that she was in a live-in relationship with him. They had plans to get married in November and also planned to buy a new house to stay after the marriage. She told police that she had indeed left the Carter Road penthouse they shared amid lockdown after a fight. She told police that she kept in touch with him after that and talked to him on the day he took the drastic step.

Rhea handed over her phone to the police for investigation. Police examined in detail the messages, pictures and the texts the two exchanged.

This is the second time she is being questioned. The police have recorded the statements of more than ten including his relatives and friends in connection with his death.

Sushant was found hanging in his flat in Bandra on June 7. It was revealed that the actor was in depression. In 2019 five of his projects were shelved. Bollywood sources said this disturbed him a lot. He was last seen in Dil Bechara, a remake of American romantic comedy film The Fault in our Star. The release of the film directed by Mukesh Chabra prolonged due to some financial crisis.
