THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala reported its highest single-day spike of COVID-19 cases with 127 persons testing positive on Saturday, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said. Of these, 87 had returned from abroad while 36 had returned from other states(Maharashtra-15, Delhi-9, Tamil Nadu-5, Uttar Pradesh-2, Karnataka-2, Rajasthan-1, Madhya Pradesh-1, Gujarat-1). Three persons contracted the disease through contact. He also added that 57 persons tested negative for the virus on Saturday.


Kollam accounted for 24 new cases, Palakkad 23, Pathanamthitta 17, Kozhikode 12, Kottayam 11, Kasargod 7, Thrissur 6, Malappuram, Thiruvananthapuram and Wayanad 5 each, Kannur and Alappuzha 4 each, Ernakulam 3, while Idukki reported 1 new case.

As of today,3039 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the state, with 1450 active coronavirus cases.

As many as 1,39,402 persons are under observation out of which 2036 are in hospitals. At present, there are 111 hotspots in the state.
