THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday said that officials have been directed to implement strict security measures in Thiruvananthapuram city in the light of increasing COVID-19 cases in the city. He also urged the police force to give special attention to the matter.

"Three special patrolling vehicles are being used to ensure that the public is maintaining physical distancing at bus stops and markets. Police have been directed to ensure that people follow these safety measures in all parts of the state," he said.

He also added that action will be taken against all those shops that violate the guidelines issued by the government. Meanwhile, the state reported the highest single-day spike of COVID-19 cases with 127 persons testing positive on Saturday. 57 persons tested negative for the virus.
