KONNI: In a dramatic incident, an astrologer committed suicide by jumping into the river after discovering the dead body of his wife. The deceased has been identified as Attachakkal native Gananathan (67) and Ramani (58).

According to police, it was Gananathan who informed his neighbours on Saturday morning that his wife passed away. Following this, he rushed to the nearby Achankovil river and jumped into it. Subsequently, police were informed and Ramani's body was discovered inside the house. There were no wounds on the body. Gananthan's body was recovered later in the afternoon from the river.

The bodies have been shifted to the Pathanamthitta General Hospital. The couple do not have any children.
